"Face the music"不是“面對音樂(lè )”！真正的意思你絕對想不到！

“Music”是生活的調劑品，沒(méi)有“music”的生活是有所缺失的。然而，“Face the music”卻不是大家想象中的“面對音樂(lè )”。這個(gè)說(shuō)法跟音樂(lè )并沒(méi)有什么關(guān)系，表達的意思是：“承擔后果”，面對現實(shí)或者處理一些現實(shí)狀況，接受所有的結果，不管是好是壞。但大多數情況下都是不太好的結果。有時(shí)候，也用來(lái)表示接受懲罰，接受某個(gè)行為帶來(lái)的直接后果。


 

這個(gè)短語(yǔ)來(lái)源于劇場(chǎng)。演員們在舞臺上表演時(shí)，就直接面對著(zhù)樂(lè )池中的樂(lè )隊，在舞臺上，演員經(jīng)常會(huì )由于緊張或怯場(chǎng)而造成忘詞等尷尬的局面，只要音樂(lè )一響，演員就沒(méi)有任何選擇的余地，只能去face the music（必須承受出現的局面）。人們遂用face the music指承擔自己行為的后果。

 

Don't escape, you should face the music when you did something wrong.

別逃避，做了錯事就要勇于承擔后果。

After failing a math test, Tom had to go home and face the music.
